Position title: Research Assistant - Political Science
Faculty Advisor: Yoshiko Herrera
Anton is a Ph.D. Candidate in Political Science at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. His dissertation combines large-scale cross-national survey analyses with original experiments and surveys in Russia to examine how individuals respond to pervasive propaganda and censorship. His research demonstrates that because of political biases, citizens substantially underestimate the trustworthiness of propagandistic state-run media and become more vulnerable to misinformation. In other work, Anton studies the legacies of communism, the evolution of the concept of post-communism, and contemporary political institutions in Russia and the former Soviet Union.
