Prior to joining the Wisconsin Russia Project, Kristina Butaeva had most recently been a fellow at the Center for the Study of Diversity and Social Interactions at the New Economic School, Moscow, Russia while concurrently completing her Ph.D (candidate) thesis at the Faculty of Economics, Lomonosov Moscow State University. Her research focus was on the development of novel techniques for the measurement of income inequality in Russia and its application to recent longitudinal monitoring survey data. The goal was to suggest a range of policies and methods that may alleviate the income inequality in Russia. During Kristina’s pre-doctoral dissertation fellowship while in residence at UW-Madison in spring semester, 2018 her faculty advisor was Paul Dower.
